Zinn Z Centaur

Hi. Im glad I kept my Zinn for all these years now. Never had the heart to get rid of it. After going up to my local trails and seeing some of the monstrosities that people are riding these days, it made me smile when I was sat on my Zinn.

That paragraph just about epitomises why I ride retro









That and the fact I'm too tight to lash out on a modern bike

I managed to find mine ( z-classic) in the local classified's advertised as a zinc mountain bike, paid the grand total of ten pounds :shock: . Not all there but itwill build up nicely.

Has anyone bought the replacement elastomers from Suspension Fork Parts . com in America, and if so were they any good and what was the delivery time like. Any advice would be great.

Delivery was about 10 days when I ordered from them, just don't get the firm, hardly any compression and I weigh 12 stone, service from them is exellent. Good to see the Zinn's going to be used again

12st is only 168lb - 'Firm' replacement parts are generally for 190lb+

You won't go wrong with one of their 'Refresher Kits'

Welcome to Retrobike. Its always good to see another Zinn. Any chance of some pictures as I can't see anything on the thread.

Apologies if you've given this information already but have you had the bike since new and what is the spec of the bike?

Here is the thread to the Z-Classic that Neil mentioned. Its in progress at the moment as I needed to update a few little bits. Should be done soon though.

The Centaur you can go through the thread on my signature below.

The Tyres were always Continental Supercross or Continental Supercross/Bajas. Both of which are pretty hard to get hold of. I managed to find a pair through eBay Germany, thats the only time I've seen them.

Also if you look through Sinnermans thread on his Z-753 there are some catalogue scans which might be worth a look...

Thanks for the welcome. There are some pictures in the user gallery under My Zinn Z Centaur.

I always new personally that my Zinn was a bit special, but its good to see that there are others out there who agree. I have never seen another Zinn in the flesh, so it is cool to see some on here. Looks like yours is doing well.

It is no longer the original spec as it was so well used and only ever offroad, things had to be replaced due to breakages, wearing out and generall upgrades etc, but everything on it must be at least 17 years old.

I will do a full spec list and stick it on later.
