Zinn from ebay with issue's, but hey, still sweet!

Well, I'd like to say that I bought it...... but I didn't, as it's really not my style to restore bikes, which is what a rarity like the Zinn needs.

But, it IS great to see bikes like the Zinn attracting the kind of serious money they deserve. It is a shame other fine bikes, like the DB's (that rarely top £600), are not attracting the same level of interest.

Ah well, all the more for us poverty stricken types ;)

On the subject of Bespoke Bristol. The boy and I will be there on the Sunday, as I've already bought the tickets.

Be there, or be somewhere else doing something boring instead.

I shall be looking at custom road frames BTW, so I apologise in advance if I am in 'nerdy mode' should any of you bump into me.

Going to Germany looking at the winner's eBay activity.

If they've got any sense they'll strip and flip it just to annoy members here ;)

PMSL.....

some members only wanted the frame, fork, stem and bar.

Lets hope that happens, and it pops back up on the radar then....... ;) ..

these are the typical outcomes for me:

1. Loose the auction. Think thank f**k I didn't want that bike anyway what the hell was I thinking bidding on that.

2. Loose the auction. Damn it!! One of those will never come up again, what was I thinking leaving it to the last minute or trying to save a couple of hundred pence/pounds..... (this can often end in buying stuff I didn't really want need as I now have that £X 'spare' that I saved by missing out on that auction.

3. Win the auction. Sick feeling in the stomach, oh bugger I paid too much/didn't really want it etc etc

4. Win the auction. Grin like a cheshire cat for days until it arrives... then look like something out of faulty towers trying to smuggle the thing in to the garage past Sybil...

Hit the nail right on the head there ... .. I have just been through part 2 after missing out on the Indy Fab Planet cross that was on ebay recently. I really wanted that but my snipe bid was just too low

Also with ref to the latter of part 2. I have often missed out on something only to console myself by trawling ebay with my newly acquired 'spare' cash !!!!

Come to think of it, i've been through all those fazes more times than is probably healthy. I think maybe I need help ....

p.s. For all those that jumped here to see if the new buyer of the Zinn had posted....
nope not me either ...sorry.

I know, I know, but I needed to put a limit on it!

Yes - that's always the dilema - all part of the roller coaster - these are the typical outcomes for me:

OK I can't delay this anymore.

I just spoke to the seller and the bike should be delivered on Thursday :D

I've experienced all of the above, but this time it will be no.4.
I cannot believe my max £1103 bid won this, but it's about time after all the disappointments.
I'm off this week, but it's really up to chance whether Sybil will find out.
This month will be hard financially. I may need to sell a Klein lol.

I have NOS Record O.R (my preferred) for the strip and rebuild, but also Icarus (to keep with originality).
What do you guys think?

BTW this bike will be ridden with the NOS Campagnolo.

I live in UK, not Germany!

Cheers RBers!

Cheers mate!

I'll try and get a build thread up ASAP, but starting a new job in 2 weeks so have little time in the near future.

If not too far from London, maybe a Zinn owners meet and ride is on the cards. :D
