Sora is above claris but below tiagra.

claris>sora>tiagra>105>ultegra>dura-ace

it's perfectly decent, often found on bikes at 1000£.

Not bike-snob friendly though

My wife has just bought 1000£ gravel bike with Sora.

She also has a Sora groupset on her old turbo bike, at least four times a week over the last ten or so years it's gets copious amounts of sweat thrown at it, keeps functioning without a problem, her idea of maintenance is drip some 3 in 1 on it once a year,

In practice sora is a little more prone to reduced performance - there was a suggestion that the materials used are cheaper and less well prepared.
