Zaskar manufactory numbers

Hello Retro's

I have an retro GT Zaskar with an insteresting manufactory number that I would like to investigate futher. The bike has served me superbly for 17 years. Bought it back in -97 from à work mate, he got it in 91 in Vienna. Last year I did however replace the companion with a new Cube Stereo.

I know that GT did a number of pre-production Zaskar's in 90, but the line production starten at 91. My Zaskar has number 02910001. It feels like an early unit. Someone that knows more about this??

Zaskar #s are easy. Build date is Feb. 91. The 0001 is the intriguing part. gm012459853745 to the white courtesy phone.

I'd say its the 1st frame built in '91... they probably built a bunch ready for the 91 model year in 90 in late 90, had a nice holiday then cranked up production in feb of 91 ready for the next batch...

It is Magura breaks. Supersystem, back in the days it was a light one finger touch and now i have to use two fingers, only dilemma is that when mud is collected one the rim the breakpower is affected. Newertheless when I got the bike in -97 with this breaks the Canondale riders did envy me.

As previous persons have said, the Zaskar bike is still i verk nice ride, mist of all to climb with. I Will still use for that purpose nd use My new Cube going down

For all people out there looking on new bikes. I got a 29 er this summer and I must say I love it. Cube stereo has a small frame geo. So if you are like me 176cm you can go with 18". Longer go with the 20" frame or check out the Scott alternatives.
