your top pick for rigid fork?

Personally I think any box or segmented crown should be avoided on a Merlin frame which should help narrow the choices down.

Kona P2s work really well and it you take anything which identifies them as Kona off they look good too. However long term you couldn't leave them on there.

I'l thinking the Ritchey Logic fork sounds like a great option as they are suitable high end enough to fit with the Merlin, and Merlin and Ritchey sounds quite good together.

On the other hand Merlin and Syncros Powerlite just sounds all wrong to me and is not a match made in heaven...

You can persuade me to sell you the Kelly fork here, just kidding.

Vicious Cycles forks are very nice. Steve Pott's are cool too if you have a very deep pocket.

GoldenEraMtb had a 1" Vicious for sale a while ago.

Yes, I'd have to agree on the Vicious Cycles fork.

I've owned a few Vicious cycles forks, Fat City wicked fork (unicrown) and Fat City yo eddy/boi (segmented), Fat City fb combo fork, GT rigid (bologne lite?), specialized DD direct drive fork, bontrager blades, and an Independent Fabrication for with the straight beefy legs (non-tapering).

I've enjoyed the Fat BOI and Specialized DD forks the most, with the Vicious a close second of third, mostly due to its forgiving ride and good tracking. What do they have in common? They are all still and fairly thin in the legs.

I would love to land a Potts Type II, from what I read it makes you an improved rider instantly, but at least 2 percent :) (No, really, I've never read a negative thing, plus I'd love one for my phoenix)

I'd also like to try a Groovy box crown or Fat City box crown, while I'm still heavier.

Haven't made many miles with this Type II yet, but the miles I did make were promissing >>

you wouldn't by chance be possessed to sell it ;)

No mention of Salsa Cromotos? If you want something in the same price bracket as Project 2's then I don't think that you can go wrong with them.
Nice stainless dropouts too....if you can only find disc and canti versions then just cut the caliper mount off.
I did the opposite and removed the rim brake mounts.

No, not really. It is now in my Phoenix. Finished it for OWMTBC 09, but haven't made too many miles on it yet. I am still busy with bikes, but tooling, cleaning and prepping in the 1st place now. Spring coming! No pics yet, but I can assure you it is nice.

I didn't think you would, so I was mostly kidding, unless of course...

loow forward to the photos :)

It's not the most romantic thing in the world, but the Spinner fork on Klein Rascals is a very nice unit. Off the rack stuff I like Kona P2IIs...but beware. As discussed elsewhere in depth on this board, not all P2s are created equal. the disc specific P2 weighs a ton and does not ride nearly as well as the triple butted rim brake P2. I have three of each.

But only one Klein Rascal with a Spinner.

why do you have to be like that to me? i'm not too keen on a unicrown fork anyway!

Did this come with your Phoenix? It is strange because it isn't Potts built. Probably Ibis or Willits.
