your top pick for rigid fork?

Vicious Cycles forks are very nice. Steve Pott's are cool too if you have a very deep pocket.

GoldenEraMtb had a 1" Vicious for sale a while ago.

darn, not a single mention of a Syncros Powerlite fork, which i have and was originally thinking of using. Or a Bontrager composite fork, which i'm liking as an alternative.

i like the look of a segmented or crowned fork versus a unicrown.

seems quite a few votes for a Ritchey. maybe i'll have a look into that. i know P2s are viewed as excellent forks and favoured by quite a few, but to me is a bit too common place for a Merlin build.

continue the discussions… ;)

I made a lot pleasant and safe miles with Miyata's bonded al 'FatMax' fork. With 745gr quite light too >>

Haven't made many miles with this Type II yet, but the miles I did make were promissing >>

darn you! you always have these oh so exotic components and bikes that you throw at us once in a while! but we all so enjoy to see you share!

those two look LUSH!

How old a Merlin is it? That would limit some of your choices.

Personally, I'd got for a Logic if it is an older one, and a Vicious or P2 (albeit easy to get and relatively cheap) otherwise. Syncros would be great, but it isn't the easiest thing to find----if you've got one why are wondering what to use?

BEST RIGID

orange F7 in nickel. i like that angular look at the crown, not to everyone's taste but have heard nothing but good about them.
not too hard to get hold of either.

it's a 94, posted in the readers forum. regarding the Syncros fork, it's the typical answer of "the steerer is too short". granted i'm doing something oddball with it trying to use a 1" threaded steerer with a 1-1/8" ahead stem.

i actually saw a few posted for sale and i do like the look of them. segmented crown and curved blades. don't know anything about them though.

I'd be itching to ride it and probably grab a P2, at least to tide me over until something amazing shows up. Bikeman.com gets runs of new ones in now and again with the proper height (410 or so?) and one inch steerers. If that side is sorted out using a bigger stem is no problem, of course.

itch is there, but can't scratch jack-sh*t! even if i got a fork going, i don't have the needed BB yet!

may pop on a set of Manitou Three in the meantime till i figure out what i'm doing with a rigid.
