In respose to the 'Most wanted thread' I thought it would be fun for some of us to list the bikes which are iconic and sought after but for whatever reason just does not light your fire.

So lets hear what and why, but no arguing, remember this is opinion based on looks and image, I am sure someone would never want my Pace just as I would not want their fave bike.

For me:

Trimble
Fat Chance
Salsa

Don't know why, respect the brands and like what they do, but have never wanted one.

generalizeds for me
tho i do have a 92 stumpy in the shed :?

like most stuff really , tend to like the more leftfield brands and designs
hence a collection of e-stays and early full sussers

so maybee treks ,cept the 9200 est's
and generalizeds (tho i'm developing an urge for an early fsr)

not really helping here am i ?

In no particular order

Trimble
Marin
Trek
Klein
Yeti

and most 1980's bikes, they just look out of proportion and/or have curved rigid fork blades

Zaskar
Anything by GT (will this turn into a GT hating thread?)
Klein (owned one before)
Trek (don't know why)
Giant (don't know why)

Any Kona, lusted after one BITD, got one didn't like it.
GT for the same reason.
Anything too expensive / rare / fragile to risk damaging.

Before I decide I dont like I need to try out.
Thus no to:-
Alloy Hardtail GT's
Alloy Specialized's
Lugged Steel Falcons
Alpinestars

I have tried numerous bikes but at present the above are the only ones I would not have again, I suspect the list might get longer

Fat Chance - bankers bikes.
Indy Flab- Fat bankers bikes
Pace - Musshy Peas and lard

GT -- ugly muthas
Cannondale - ever since I saw those fat tubes with weedy little Pepperonies...

I have irrational hatred for some other brands, but not as strongly as these ...

Oh, and anything ti, though I could yet be turned... ;)

I have no desire to own any of the following...

Klein - (£60 for a pair of grips? Really?)

Trimble - If I wanted to ride a broomstick I'd be Harry Potter.

Pace - terrified I'd break it.

Manitou - see above.

80's Bikes - same reason as previous poster (it just doesn't work for me).

You should at least try and ride these bikes before you slate them.

Just bellowing 'ooh I dont like the look of that!' is pretty pointless.

Seeing first hand the results of what happens with carbon fibre frames, I will never want to own one.
