Where was the racing at Blandford?

At 'Blandford forum' just out side the town centre. I got the train then cycled from the station. A nice warm up before the race. visited twice one good race one not so good. will go again next year

you can only get in there when they run races as its a clay shooting area, Soggy Bottom Race in Feb i think

I might just have to visit it one day, be good to ride that circuit

thin ice here.. BUT! I was in uni in plymouth & frequently rode in newnham park (tho this is going back 92-96 so likely changed since!)
the clay pigeon shooting area used to be near the valley bottom just north of the infamous "pipeline" downhill. we used to freely ride the upper forest area & never see a soul. either go along the plyn valley (starting part macdonalds) until you come to cann wood, go through cann wood until you hit the road (borringdon hill? memorys fading a little for names) & follow the land ahead of you. there was an old 5 bar gate. over that gate & you;re into the very top of newnham park. if you follow the singletrack with a wall on your right you'll enter the big field above the double jumps & the first grassy climb.
the other way in was the other side of the valley to the pipeline. either climb the road hill to the right of the main newnham park entrance until you pass under the pylons & start heading downhill. you'll see a small bombhole with lip jump (did my 1st 1 hander jump there ) drop down the muddy DH & cross the river crossing (can be propper deep!). this will bring you near the grundig dragon fly climb.
If you're heading from cadover bridge, china clay pits north area, do the old NPS DH route through the heather (waay more technical than it looks!) which will bring you to the same bombhole jump spot.

i havent been back to plymouth in sometime... thinking back I want to now bovisand to wembry coastal path & back through plymstock woods was always my fave, or the ultra technical river tavy loop from yelverton... espically when the river was high & you'd be riding inthe river!

I have ridden alot of Wales and allways enjoy how the hills remind me of the west coast of Canada, the man made singletrack can become too tame sometimes. In the US I have been to Moab, Fruita, Sedona, LA, Seattle.....The Kokapellie in Moab stands out.
The North Shore in Vancouver is amazing, CBC has a phenominal amount of man hours in that one trail.....I walked ALOT. Whistler the park and in the Valley Comfortably Numb is an epic that I can say I rode. A two hour drive north of Whistler we caught a float plane up into a remote lake and rode the whole day back. Also been to Nelson and did the phenominal 12 mile drop in Golden.
If I had to pick one place to ride for a week it would be Fernie.

What I need to ride is Europe, Scotland and Durango. Better hurry up as time is running out.

dave "pee wee" hemmings hit that same pipeline tree 3 times & broke his collar bone at least once :shock:
darren tapp was probs the fastest i ever saw go down it (faster than tomac!) when he reached the bottom he pulled out of the race, turned out his pro-stop disc brake had failed & he couldnt stop! nasty place to find that out! :shock:

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve in Singapore. Not much in terms of seriously rugged terrain, but cycling through what is supposed to be virgin rainforest on Singapore's highest hill is fantastic. It' amazing to think this is only a few km out of one of the most modern and sanitised cities in Asia, if not the world. Watch out for the macaques. They are overfed, cheeky buggers though

Sooo many places....

Best one for quality of riding, mates, views and challenge has to be doing Scottish Coast to Coast offroad, in fine 20* weather for most of the week....
