In terms of custom built stuff then surely it’s just a case of a agreed value. I’ve got a 1 off bike that couldn’t be replicated and I just say a value I’d like back should it be stolen etc.

In terms of value , are you declaring the price it cost to complete or the true value for it on the open market. For example just because it cost £700 to refinish doesn’t mean it’s worth £700 more.

My Evil is around a £9k build but I’ve insured it for £5k as that’s more than I’d get selling it. Same for my kingdom , built for around £4500 but insured for £2000. Same principal as car insurance , it’s not got the value you paid but market value and no point paying extra premiums when it can be replaced for said amount.

Im happy with the company, and there is no limit on sum insured. theres just a need to be accurate in my cost to ensure my outlay is covered in the event of a claim, without having any nonsense there after.

I guess from there point of view, its a little like insuring a Mk 1 ford escort mexico, and then having a fire and finding, whilst the car was refinished to exacting standards and looked like it , the actual chassis didnt start life as a mexico but a standard mk 1 3 door ford escort

To the uneducated eye, a repainted Carrera quattro e-stay could be made to look like a Roberts Stratos.

Its not something i have thought about really, until recentlly when my daughters grandma said i should catalogue all the things i own for my daughter for reference. It kind of made sense, though a lot of my things are only valuable to me. Even my bikes have no meaning to her.

So... keep an eye out for future "old silver bicycle" ads, might just grab a bargain

My reply involves showing her which ones an just go on evilbay. Everything else is to come on here and i have given her strict instructions to get you all to say how much they are worth and then she is to sell them to you guys on here and not use evilbay.

I would trust you all to give a fair price and not mess her about.
