Yeti FRO

looks nice till you read about the repair.

repair looks ok from the photos not the neatest welding but never mind, as its 4130 chrome i wonder if they heated the area first?

i have welded 4130 pipework for offshore oil platforms and that was always preheaded to 150 degrees centigrade before tig welding started then stress relived after as it has a high nickel content as well as some chrome so it can crack once in use.

the photos dont show this nor does the seller mention anything about it.

could always ask if interested in the bike.

Buyer beware. I know this bike and this seller. It is a rust bucket, and the seller has been trying to unload it for months. He tried to hide the cracked stay initially, but the truth came out.

He actually threatened to come after a potential buyer who outed his shady listing. Just sayin....

You have a link to where it was outed as being a rust bucket? Thanks

I believe it was initially contested via email between the seller and a prospective buyer. Then a series of CL ads warning the public...followed by a bunch of rebuttals and threats. Ugly business, and entirely unnecessary. It could have all been avoided, had the seller been honest about the condition.

Enough said. Nice parts spec though.

Ah, a CL war. Sometimes tricky to know who is right in those, without first hand knowledge. But, it doesn't hurt to have that type of info, with which to ask more specific questions.
