I think it was less about riding, but about carrying the bike in the boot space of the BMW
BTW: that was a design criteria for BMW bikes for decades.

but actually, your BMW Super Tech was back in time 96/97 also an really interesting Mountain Bike.
If you like I can share two tests in german bike magazines with you.
It was also very expensive, with XTR 6900,- german mark.
I hope the Paioli damper is still good.
There had been Mid 90ties even a few other brands playing with Telelever supsension.
