the M750 XT spider goes straight on apparently.

I did have a look at that, but I'm really hoping I can get an original XTR one...

Cheers! :D

I keep trying to say, there never was an original 5-arm Compact 94/58 XTR spider.

Only the propriety 4-arm ring and the 110/74 ATB 5-arm.

Though if the M750 fits, then that probably means the M570 also fits..
so...
then you can still buy the adaptor
http://www.google.co.uk/search?gcx=c&so ... M570+5+arm
or find it strapped to some cranks.

I'm sure I remember someone putting the 4-arm on, maybe with a small modification.

You do, and I keep muddling things around :?

Any old compact spider to fit...

Or I might just give up and bodge a 42t ring onto the top of my cassette

Does this help:

I was out doing a bit of polishing on some XTRm950 cranks.

The rings are scrap so I whipped the removeable spider off of some LX m570 :? cranks and tried it on the XTR cranks.....

Nice  XTR cranks with 4 bolt easy to find rings.

I'm chuffed to bits, hope it helps someone else.

sorry for jumping in on this thread but i'd like to do the same to my m951 chainset. theres quite a few xt m752's on ebay usually so is that suitable or does it have to be specifically the 750 ?

I have an old wrecked-spline 952 that has a Forge 4-arm compact spider and a silver compact 5-arm for it too I think - If either are right I can start turning the garage upside-down looking to check for you! I know I have the Forge to hand, it's the 5-arm I'm not sure about. I think it was a filed-out XT, maybe. I'd need to check.

Let me know...

(edited to say, the silver may be a 5-arm original not compact, anyway, I'd need to find it to be sure.)
