Decided to go for GT Zaskar LE, frames seem to be plenty around. I already have an original '94 GT outpost soon to be sold and GT LTS2 - Don't like back suspension at all though - those things are real heavy contraptions.

Anyone know if all the early GT ali frames were made the same - Is it just the stickers and compnents that were different?

pretty sure there are differences between Zaskar and other models, mine is a 98, made with Easton tubing... not sure what the others were made of

There are many "is this a zaskar" discussions on here and i'm no expert but yes, there are differences. I think zaskars have a flat endcap which signifies their having been made in the us, and the tubes are 6061. Someone better informed than me will be along in a minute.

I'm sure gm**** will have a much more comprehensive response, but on the '91-'92 Zaskars the rear brake studs were made for a u-brake/rollercam brake. In '93 GT switched to canti studs. So, if you have a rear XTR canti brake you want to use, eliminate the '91-'92 Zaskars from your search.

I'm pretty sure the geometry changed in '93 also to accommodate a suspension fork. But I'm not absolutely sure about that.

I've posted this before but here is the '92 I did found and brought back to life. It was infested with XTR, and man, am I lucky.

That is of course true for this era of Orange.

GT's are almost as common as Kona's, though they do seem to be out of favour at the moment.

Just go for whatever you like the look of and can get hold of.

How bout an Al-Mega XTR if you can find one
