I guess Shimano will gradually put these in all their MTB and flat bar groupsets seeing as they won't be able to put them on the high end road groupsets... goodbye washing-lines (thank god).

I think that they started doing this with m950/952 as I remember seeing them in my lbs about ten years or more ago :shock:

I used to run these on my road bike and they work very well and easy to set up!

They used to include these with DA 7700 groupsets.

I also like the optical gear display although am able to ride without it. On the road the flight decks are ace. On the mtb the little windows oin the shifters are good, find the flightdeck screen too small to read.

They are kind of cool, I have a set somewhere - included with all the XTR `dual control`brake and gear combos. Never used them though. Functionally they are fine as long as you install them correctly.

I was actually thinking of replacing my LX shifters with XT, so that I could remove the pointless indicators.
