XT Thumbies vs Hope levers

OK so pro levers and thumbies aren't compatible unless you can put up with the shifter being horizontal and the lever being vertically down.
Sport levers are a bit better as you can rotate the reservoir forward and get a workable compromise.
But do the modern rectangular capped levers give you enough room to have the shifter tilted slightly forward and lever at 45 degree angle setup that I like best?

Ran into the same problem. The new magura series (Marta, Louise) have a much slimmer clamp and reservoir, allowing you to run thumbies with them

Running them outside the brake levers just leaves you with half your grip covered by the shifter lever and a brake lever only accessible by your index finger.
Going to give the never ones a try I think before resorting to making my own shifter clamps :/

This is good to know for the future, as I have only ever single finger braked, and to use 2 fingers leaves me feeling less in control of the bars..... old BMXer here ;)

Why would you need more than a single finger on 1 finger levers?

Hayes levers have an internal reservoir so no issue with them in terms of thumbie clearance.

I'll try and get some pics to illustrate the issue later on, it's not so much about how many fingers you can get on the lever blade, just how much knuckle dislocation is required to do so ;)
I have a Hayes 9 in my spares box. Never used it to be fair, needs pads. I'm probably being daft as I love the hopes but can't get on with any other type of shifter. It's probably always going to be a compromise. :(

Panic over, the more modern lever juuuuuust has enough room for the thumbies to sit over the reservoir cap :)
