XT sti levers

I was given these a while ago. I think these are STI-M095. They are missing a few bits and need a good clean. The r/h shifter is quite sticky in operation is it 7 speed or 8? Will trying to find a l/h shifter be an exercise in frustration? I am a bit loath to cut the shifter mounts off but if I need to use separate shifters it may be the only way.
