xc pro cantis question

Just got a beautiful set of these off ebay... and 3 of 4 work great.

With the 4th, though, I just can't get any spring tension.

I get that these are self-contained, and don't enter the frame's boss, but with the rest I am able to adjust tension with a cone wrench while tightening the brake bolt.

With this one, all that does is make the brake immovable.

I've tried flipping the spring, using other springs, but to no avail.

What am I doing wrong?

i was gonna say its the wrong spring ,but you've tried that
is the post bush damaged ?
have you tied it on a different post ?
