i had one of those, thought it was called "xlr8" as in accelerate? or was that my imagination or bad memory?

I thought it was an xlr168.

Chris.

the old school ones were called L168, then they re-releasd them in about 2000/1 and they were nearly the same, but this time called 'XLR'. there was also a dh stem called the 'DHR' which was a replacement for the fly.

The 135mm had 3 holes in it. I had one on my 1995 Pace and it matched the frame very well. gave it away when I sold the bike to get the sub5. I know the guy who bought my frame still has the xlite stem so guess who I'm calling tonight. It was missing an end plate bolt (lost by the LBC when I "upgraded" a shorter Pace stem). Funny how in the mid 90s long top tubes and stems were the way to go. Who'd have a 135mm stem on a 20 inch Pace now? It was like steering the titanic on singletrack but was a dream on the fireroad or tarmac, and to think I took it with a 100mm Pace fork to the Porcupine Rim and slickrock in Moab.

Wow lawson I have a CNC machined stem that I'd like to strip and polish but it's got loads of hard to reach spots, how did you manage to polish inside the holes in the stem?

where did you find those stems?? - Ive been looking for one for months - had one around 97/98 on a kona hei hei but was way too long for me on that bike

dont know of any blue ones for sale do you??

i have a satin silver original release 135mm and a later 115mm that looks a little tatty (i think someone has possible painted it), i dont really need either of them if anybody wants to offer :)
and yes they were about £142

I forgot how eyewateringly expensive they were at the time. Did I actually pay that? They did look the part though, although they were rather heavy. And to think I gave mine away as spares with my old bike. I'm trying to recover it so I hope the current owner isn't reading this....
