I was about to suggest Soma Osprey at 710mm but they don't have as much rise of the open bar.

I'd like to try the corner bars at some point too.

Almost bought an Osprey from SJS Jim, but default postage due to strikes was £15!

Also it’s alloy and will be thick, and I have a couple of control tech bar extenders that will fit in steel bars which is what swung me towards the surly

I tend to tolerate alloy bars on heavy steel frames but prefer steel bars. On lightweight steel frames I find steel bars a must though. Lighter steel frames are far more bumpy and sensitive than something heavy duty like a Surly, so steel bars neutralise that to an extent. On my Surly's I actually run alloy bars with the exception of the cross check.

So just bought the 40mm rise version of these to use with it

And they’re 666 wide

When the shim doesn’t pass around those tight radial corners.. don’t get frustrated and cut it.. just remember, I’m here.. PayPal’ing finger at the ready?!

I like the bars, even more so upside down, and your prediction was correct regarding the shim…. but two wee snips will fix that!

You can rest easy lads, no harm befell the shim in the making of this bar/stem combo!

Once detached from the stem, it was all a little anti-climactic as it slid on no bother…. looks cool though!
