Great memories of my Grifter. I’d pay (a quite small amount) to know the story behind this:

lead clown: here’s 50 quid, get a new trick bike for Big Mike: Looks like Nelly sat on old faithful.

Junior clown: sure boss.

Junior clown’s mate: what 50 notes?! Let’s get down the Slaughtered Lamb - 2 for a quid before 9 and Beardy Annie and her fit mate are doing the back room .

.... later...

Junior Clown: what d’ya mean we’ve only got £3.38 left - what about the pony you put in your sock?

Junior Clown’s mate: .........

Junior clown: Oh yeah, she did, didn’t she. Right; the Carousel bloke is new and his twins just got new bikes for Xmas; you grab the wheels and if he plays rough tell him I know what he got up to with Annie and the mascot.
I’ll get the mig .....
What are you on and will you sell me any?

what sort of welding gear would be needed to construct something like this?

Serious question.

Only available at the local sanitorium me thinks ! :D

it is done pretty well though.

Nuts as it is, it must have taken some skill and time; might have been started at the outbreak of the Spanish Flu !

Re:

Did brazing and Oxy acetylene when I was an apprentice. Torch and rods is doable.
