WTD M970 V-brake, up to £70 paid

Grr, Shimano aren't making the M970 V-brake now and I can't seem to find then online so I'll pay up to £70 for a very good condition pair or £130 for the front and rear.
Cheers,
Matt

No stock unfortunately, only SJS have them and 100 quid is a bit steep. I'll have go down that route if you guys can't help though.

I might be able to help you out, I'm thinking of going to a front disc on one of my bikes and it has mint condition ones on it. With the original brake shoes.

I'll try and get a decent photo of it, quite tricky as they are so shiny.

Cool, pics would be great. I'll keep an eye on the thread if you do decide to go to the dark side

Thats a bit harsh of SJS, was in the same boat a couple of months ago, no one had any stock left, so got them from SJS and I paid £71.48 for each pair - just looked at the invoice, its dated 04/10/2011!

Did you ring them to check stock ?
Slane Cycles seem to allow me to buy both front and rear ?

Guess SJS are just pricing according to demand, makes sense. They're normally on the more expensive side but the service and stock holding is pretty good. Looks like I'll have to buy them there.

Pretty sure Slane don't have any, I've 'bought' a set twice now and had an email later to say Shimano don't make them anymore and do I want to order some slighty broken Alivio ones instead or have a refund. Grrrr....
Old bike shop trick which I never used to use when I worked in one, just pisses people off.

That's just plain stupid.

All the v-brakes have been shifted to the Txxx series, XT and LX. Guess they're not taking XTR there yet.
I guess demand for the high end XTR are not needed, well given the XT 770 are working excellently and much lighter and less faffy (but they've now gone to the T's).
Even cyclocross has gone disc now, so even less canti's going to be produced I assume in due course.
