Wrist watch and timepiece discussion thread

AU super slim deluxe, the SU2209 puts in in soviet era so I don't think "model name" really applies, it was simply "deluxe" they made very few models and most used the same movement. it will be radioactive. The dial should say "deluxe" under Sekonda but wouldn't be surprised if it was never stamped.

Interesting from a historical "Made in USSR" point of view but the movement isn't the best and the workmanship was "interesting".

edit to add: found one on that well known watch site Etsy. :)

Thanks mate my father wore one for decades, I got rid of it when he died as it wasn't working and there was a lot else to do. Always regretted doing so, my memory was of an elegant and very slim watch.

very slim. they do look nice. you can pick them up at a good price in better condition than the one you show there (you'll struggle to get a crystal for it).
for sentimental value it's a great watch. when the movement fails, buy another one, it isn't worth trying the repair. EDIT: buy another movement, they are lift out and in.

I eventually managed to break free from the tyranny of 'big watch' .. i don't need to wear one, it’s rare that I have to be anywhere at a very specific time.. maybe an occasional dentist appointment but they’re not to the nearest millisecond..

I have a phone, there is a clock on the wall at work, clock on the laptop, clock in the car.. ect.. alas i hadn't taken my watch off since the 90s so stopping wearing it was hard.. every time i left the house i was thinking i'd forgotten something.. checking pockets numerous times.. the battery ran out so just to reaffirm how little it was needed, i continued to wear it for 6mths without it working.. i eventually took it off and haven't worn it now for maybe a year.. I'm fully weaned.

My friends Porsche driving husband bought a Porsche x Tag watch.. “How do I inform people that I own a Porsche when i'm not driving it?.. "hello, my name is ****** and i own a Porsche" No.. no too direct.. maybe a Porsche t-shirt? no.. too tacky, I know i'll buy a Porsche watch, then they'll know i've got cash"

I wear a "smart" watch these days, mainly for running, but it's quite nice to have constant contact with the world every second of the day no matter where I am.........
