Would you ride this? Spinergy Content!

Apparently there's still a divot out of the track from that crash ;-) It's of dubious relevance to the Spinergy question, mind, given that that wheel's not a Spinergy, and only failed because the tyre went.

True, but would alloy rims do that after a tyre blow-out!?

Probably not. But comparing track and MTB wheels is very apples and oranges.

I didn't mean an MTB alloy wheel necessarily... I've ridden round a velodrome on alloy rims, though never even at high speed  let alone had a blow out on track

But surely, a wheel is a wheel... they all serve the exact same function regardless of terrain / daimeter etc.

Just an argument for the other side here Ive used one of those on the back of a rigid kona for pretty much 13 years, which included 3 years of racing on it... With the wheel I got 'blade covers' to stop damage to the side of the spokes and the torsion bits that go between the spokes, never had a problem with them and theyre still being used today.

However how were they advertised unless they told you about the damage in the listing Id send it straight back...

Spinergy

I used to have a damaged 700c version of the rev-x-roks hanging on my bedroom wall. A mate had a brand new pair on his Cannondale and managed to snap one rear spoke bouncing over a pothole about 6 rides in. If you look at the carbon layup around the joins between the rim and spoke it is seriously messy (on the couple I've seen anyway) which is undoubtedly a contributory factor in their susceptability to crack around there. I doubt I would ride a "mint" condition one these days - I know some people like the looks of these things, but at what price your teeth?

Refund.
