Re:

It is beginning to sound much more like you are trying to convince yourself that the bike is the right size as you like the frame ;)

i have a 14.5" zaskar which is the right size, a 16" chameleon which is the right size, a 17" explosif which is the right size, a 19" RC200 which is the right size (but the 21" Vit T2 was too big).
Just goes to show, different frames different uses etc. I suppose it depends what you want to do with it.

Sounds like its working for you and thats the thing that matters

Re:

There can't be much room to chuck it about off road. I once had an 19.5 inch trek with thathe amount of post and I tried to convince myself it was the right size for me and it simply wasn't.

It depends.

If you are happy with it, feel comfortable, not too stretched out, etc., it isn't too big.

These bikes are old now. And we getting old too, which means we are probably less keen on the head down, bum up riding position adopted by fit, young men.

My riding style is different now, and consequently the setup of my bikes is too.

My, those Scholl sandals look comfy.
