Yep - you're right. Found another pic reference- referred to as Mavic 571 "shark tooth". Aggressive looking piece of kit!

Definitely designed like that, yep.
If they have that round spline profile like those on VeloBase, I’d be interested in buying them if you fancy selling? (they also made a regular HG freehub version)

This relates to the Mavic rum.....“Pre-owned as NEW condition”

Pretty sure them Mavic rims was an all blue anodised colour, after serious miles the anodising was worn off.

Mavic SSC Blues & Greys back in the 80’s was the go rim for road racers…as they stood up well to allot of punishment on the road & could hold up to high tensioning of spokes. Nice rims but downfall is the anodizing wears off making the rim quite ugly to look at….
