Work bikes

This is the former work bike of a colleague of mine. He had that bike since new. I have known him for 5 years now and he has been doing around 4000km per year. So this Marin has seen some serious milage...

He karma'd it to me as he bought a new ride last year. He had been laying in my ears all the time about how hard it was to obtain new 7speed cassettes, he did not want to use Alivio parts. Now he has his new bike, chewed through 2 cassettes and 5 chains and is now complaining about the new stuff beeing too fragile

Not sure what to do with the bike. Its my size. But I cant even remove 3 of the 4 bolts that are holding the rack in place. Oxidation everywhere...

Here is mine for the 2016 season. I'm a fair weather commuter with 27 km/one direction to work and the same back.

Re:

My Univega Alpina 5.4 Special Edition, 1994 bike. Bought last year for 100 Euros, in very good condition, but I replaced original canti brakes with v-brakes. Bike geometry was painful so i changed stem and handlebars too.
It is not a commuter bike (as I walk 15 minutes to job), just take it with me to vegetable market, supermarket, grocery store.

How do you find the Fly Guy forks? I have Wise Guy forks on my winter commuter and they seem pretty rigid, but work well for my simple commute.

Loved them, strong and responsive and they have the Magura mounts built in so great but I have now swapped them out for some proper retro Girvin Vector 2s I had! Ill post a new pic as soon as it stops raining :)

Nice picture!!

What is the front rack? I'm looking for one exactly like that, with possibility of carrying side panniers but also with a top loading bay to strap the tent or something. I've only found the Surly (expensive and heavy) and I also like the one that comes from factory on the new Trek 920 but I can't find a name to buy it separately.
