I am really pleased with the bike although it is a bit spinny but I was expecting it and did not want to do it to the detriment of the bottom end.
It makes the transmission very smooth and fluid and it's so nice not to have to use a front mech!!!

I like the looks of that. Very slick. 
As far as 1x? chain alignment and chainwheel wear and all that, I say hogwash. 1x8 and 1x9 drivetrains are just about all I've used in the last 12 years or so and I've never had a chain alignment issue. As for chainwheel life, I bet you build something else to play with before you wear this one out....you seem to have the bug.

To maximise it I'd change the chain frequently, either measure it or buy a chain checker(worthwhile investment anyway). Changing the chain will greatly increase the life of the cassette and chainwheel. Try parker international for cheap chains too, at that price theres no reason not to change them regularly.

The ring is really well finished with no sharp edges, the machining is really consistent and smooth. The connection with the crank was spot on so his tolerances are well engineered, clearly. Weight is 65g, which is not too shabby! It took two weeks between Paypal payment and delivery, I did not have to pay any duty on it.
Total weight saving of the conversion is 360g, which is very good considering I removed very light components, all XTR (shifter, f/mech, 210g rings, cassette, chain).
The average weight saving should be about 400g.
