Winter gloves recommendations

Industrial freezer gloves are great. Quite a lot of us have switched to using them for winter/ice/mixed climbing, especially on days where it's damper. MaxiDry Zero are my current favourite. They're rubberised, lined, and dirt cheap. More waterproof than anything from the proper manufacturers, at the expense of breathability. The other option I've used is the Supreme TTF FC-Therm 328. The palm isn't quite so tough but they're dirt, dirt cheap. I've been choosing gloves like these over the likes of Mountain Equipment Alpine, and Super Couloirs. I do still use them, but that's when it's -5 and below, blowing an absolute hoolie, and the wind chill is brutal. For actual leading they're brilliant. And that's probably the closest to what you'll encounter when riding. If it's just cold then there'll likely be better but if it's waterproof you're after these things beat anything with stitches, or a liner.

Sounds like they heat the hands better than they heat the fingers..

Last week the back of my right hand had turned a browny-yellowy colour, riding the bike in the snow.. like a week old bruise, it was so numb i could have stuck a nail in it.. 10mins under the warm tap and it was fine.. i'm still too northern to invest £££s in something to improve my wellbeing when grin and bear it costs nothing..

..yet i'll pay £400 for a crank without a second of hesitation

I’ve put it off and winter is here again. Need to sort some for sure.

I managed to continue riding last week with snow but 1 day I was cold. I was cursing myself the whole ride.

And now it’s milder again it’s been pushed down the list of priorities

I commute in a Woolpower base and leave it on under my work jeans, the arse of my leggins wore through last year on the saddle, i asked my wife if she could sew them.. she made a pretty good job of them (100x better than my efforts) but they pull a bit to one side which is very annoying.. i promised myself i would buy a replacement pair in the summer when they're going cheap.. yet here we are

I have a couple of pairs of Sealskinz for shooting, they are pretty reliable (IE water & wind proof) but if your hands are cold putting them on it will make no difference at all.
I'll use them on the bike for the same reason and see how it goes as my diabetes causes bad circulation so my fingers can be cold even in summer heat..

My mrs has been wearing a heated gillet through the winter for the last 4 years and loves it.. a lot of them fit like a sack but this one is tailored to a female shape so the heating elements are next to the body.

First ride in new gloves last week. While they are the same size I usually wear they feel tighter/smaller. Definitely thicker than the sealskinz I’ve had in the past. They were on offer at SportsPursuits for £44 I’d post the link but you have to sign in to see the price. Pleased with these so far, to be fair was only around zero and dry so not a real test.

Thanks for pointing that link out @Betsy, I clicked on the bertschat one at the top and (typically wearing man blinkers) I assumed they were the same range..
Yeah I know sometimes I despair at myself too

It's a lot of money but when you consider I paid nearly £100 each for 2 pairs of non heated ones it doesn't seem that much more.

I suffer from more circulation to the digits, best I've found is Defeet Merino, with Rag Wool gloves on top. I'll get some pics up tomorrow of the ones I use.
