Been looking online for long seat posts to make my 17" Magenta/pink Raleigh Apex fit more, not taken by a lot of posts available new. Tioga T bone is budget choice, not bad at all at £15, a modern Raceface XY, great value at £49.99 but more than i wanted to spend really and prob not retro chic for my 93 Raleigh, doesnt have to be period specific just retroish,

any ideas?

and what colour goes with magenta FFS, safe but boring choice is black

cheers

You can usually find pretty good deals on Ringle seatposts, if you can get one with a clamp that holds ;)

I know of a shop in NJ that may have some in stock

Thanks for suggestions, its not a biggie, I semi retired the bike for the last few months to build me Fox, but with new wheels coming time to rebuild the all weather retro beast

Green you say? wow!

Well, got a red brake to go on, a red lever and, a yellow lever, and another blue brake to go with it!! got some painting to do! otherwise it will be like a clown bike! or maybe all that colour is no bad thing.

yeah, i'm in the market for a 27.0mm too for my recently id RM Blizzard. seems i've had the wrong size (too small) post on it. i suspected it for the longest time, but didn't know what the proper size was.

any chance i could SLIP a 27.2mm post in??? seems there's a lot more selection and availability! :(

I hope Gump doesn't read this, because any suggestion that the Blizzard and the same-year Explosif, which is after all a mere Kona, might have exactly the same tubeset would obviously be quite out of order. But they do.

And if you look here http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43415 you'll see that Stew-B is selling just such a machine, with a Tange Prestige Concept seat tube just like yours, and he told me that his frame takes a 27.2. As does my 94 Kilauea, which also has a Tange Prestige Concept seat tube. But some other owners say a 27.2 won't fit and their bike needs a 27.0 (as per Kona's recommendation). So I think it varies with the amount of reaming each frame needed - a 27.2 either just fits or just doesn't. If a 27.0 is very easy to insert, there's probably a reasonable chance that a 27.2 will go.

Agree the tioga one is great for the price, bear in mind though that its in line and could effect your saddle position

*sigh* i'd be all over the tioga if i could find it from a seller in NA. Only place i've found so far is ChainReactionCycles and shipping almost equals the price of the post! :(

guess i'll try and find me a 27.2 post off a friend and see if it fits. thanks for the advice Anthony.
