Yep, the ring does indeed look like a williams..............but I'm sure the cranks are nicklin

could that point towards the bike was cheaper or higher end of the bike market?

it has a Huret Svelto rear dérailleur (5 speed)

lol, this looks like the one I am trying to identify. I suspect ring is not the C1200. Pictures I have seen suggest the straight parts on latter did not meet, like they do on ours. The N could well be the later Nicklin mark. So far have not identified a model designation. Incidentally my bolts are square-headed.

It's a Williams C45 style chainring (88mm bcd) rather than a C1200 (116mm bcd). They're interchangeable with C34 rings and cranks
