Why no love for Cannondale?

I think they are a bit like BMWs - you either love them to bits or won't be seen dead on one.

I don't know why, they just seem to polarise people.

Konas seem to have their fanatics and people just don't get it, but aren't antagonised by them. It's strange.

Oh sure they are. Kona's are also love/hate bikes. Just MAYBE not hated as much as Dale's seem to be by those that hate them. ;)

Me & my mates always regarded Cannondale as pretty high-end when we were riding in the early 90s, would never buy one now though.

Just got a Killer V as a project and even with the now welded cracked rear stay  and my previous post slating them, I have to amit that it is a nice looking machine. Alllbeit I still think I won't like the ride esp. with the bad boy pepperonis up front.

But time will tell and it will be nice and shiny

i dunno--i had a m700 (1992??) with the 3.0 frame (had the dropouts that extended past the stays like 3 inches or so?) and the pepp fork that i never traded in on the recall---bike held up fine, tho the "force 40" brakes were pretty weak---maybe i didnt have them setup right---its my brothers now

Saw several mates break them in the mid 90's and never really liked them after that. Also had a pretty harsh ride as I recall. I think they probably strayed too far into their own niche, where once you were in you were stuck with their expensive spares for shocks etc. It's the same reason I'd be put off one of the 2008 Spesh full sussers as they have used their own shocks etc. Just my opinion. :D

I had a Cannondale, 1991ish, Black with green splatters, Suntour XC Pro. Not sure what model it was?
Frame developed a crack at the Headtube/Downtube junction in 1995.
Cannondale replaced it with this frame under warranty, this still gets regular use.

Cannondale

Cannondale basically a budget klein that said beast from the east I beleive m800? was kind kona geometry slowing top tube but some are like a barn door long old stem very straight line kinda like ten years behind kona or rather Mr Murray's designs no current far east plastic bike. If that came without Cannondale parts and forks they would be OK Coda parts genrally in my experience far apart and having worked in the trade I seen plenty broken dale's and certain no klein's well maybe dented ones, My dad has a dale m600 frame old with no Cannondale bits and that's nice!

You read my mind fella !!! All the while Klein were stealing the hearts of every 16 year old MTB'er, Cannondale just didnt stand a chance !!!

Did quite like the look of the Delta V style frame tho have to say, and I bet (even tho all wont admit it) that they hold a place in most retro MTB'ers hearts now as they are..... Retro after all :)

Still.... If it were a battle of the bulge and the big fat downtube made its decision for me it would Always be an ADROIT !!! Sorry Cannondale...
