Why I call Halfords 'Halfrauds'

My local Halfrauds is selling complete Van Nichols bikes for between £700 and £1000 depending on the spec 105 to Full Ultegra. You can't argue with bargainousness like that!

I wouldn't care if they were selling tenners for a fiver!!

on the other hand , they have plenty of little bolts and nuts that most lbs dont stock and introduce cycling to the community as a whole .

when you start cycling or just need a bike to go out with kids on a sunday , you dont really want to spend a fortune on a bike .
Agreed. I've posted this somewhere else on this forum but I'm gonna do it again...I've just bought one of these for my 7 year old girl, she's gonna love it. I guessed she wouldn't appreciate a Cannondale, but to be fair I wasn't going to get her an Apollo ;)

does it really matter ?

you ll have to spend twice as much at least for an islabike or a boutique kid bike and it ll be too small in no time .

It doesn't really matter at all, a friend of mines got three little girls about that age and they ride bikes very similar and love them, I was just amazed when I picked one up how heavy it was!! Still not as bad (read heavy) as those faux moto cross bikes they've got in halfords, I very nearly gave myself a hernia lifting one of them up!

I'm not slagging your choice of bike mate, merely making an observation!!! :D :D :D

In there the other day. A chappy wanted to buy a bike...
He was about 5'10" with shortish legs. The muppet recommended a 20" frame, and popped out the back to get one.
I told him, furtively, that that might be a bit big. He looked at me like I was an idiot... Payed his money, and left them to build it up.
Another bike left in the shed.

my boss was looking over my shoulder as I surfed the site at work and asked why are all their saddles set so high? are all the bikes too small for them? as my saddle is set at the lowest I can get it and my feet only just touch the ground with my nutz rubbing on the cross bar!

the prat had took their advice and bought a 19'' frame! he's only around 5' 8/9'' luckily he's single and ugly so the chances of him breeding again are slim or not existant especially now with the lack of stand over height :?

Dunno, how much is that Carrera?

I recently bought my son an Islabike (Beinn 20) and it looks to have loads of growing room - plus better residuals or buy-back from Islabike, or suitable for Jnr no 2.

And it is reasonably light. Cost £209, plus postage of around £12.
