Why does nobody like gripshift?

Never tried them but they have always been tainted as the mark of the BSO for me.

I think the rear shifting of grip shift is sub par. However i love the front shifting. you can always micro adjust your chain line, so you don't have to deal w/ annoying derailleur chain rub. I actually on all of my modern bikes run a grip shift front and a XO trigger in the rear.

Explanation for the TLA non-savvy please :)

Bicycle Shaped Object

The sort of thing that usualy comes built from crap steel, full suspension (front forks fitted arse backwards) for £79 from Asda, Tesco, Halfrauds or any number of similar non bicycle shops.

Having had X rays back i the day they were great for about a month. then much, crud and water started to affect it and shift quality at the back was poor at best if i wasn't fanatical with cable cleaning and maintenance. (even in the summer the dust would gum up the cabling and make it vague)

And as teen i wasn't into stripping and cleaning every week and couldn't afford new cables every 6 weeks or so to keep it slick!

Why does nobody like gripshift?

I was bullied at school by some Gripshift and... and they, they did things to me...

I love gripshift only thing better are XC Pro thumb shifters.

Under bar are rubbish

I think the SRT600 was a pretty sorted design. Daft light, cheap ( and now cheap as chips ) and reliable. Sachs Wavey was a favourite for grip though for me the best were the Half Pipe " X " series and 1:1 actuation even a pished baboon could set up.
