Why does every shock I post or buy from overseas get lost?

Since brexit, every rear shock I've bought from overseas, or sent out of the UK has been lost

I don't get why? For the ones I've posted I've filled in the customs forms correctly, used the right export code and declared correct value and reason for shipping.

Am I just unlucky or is there a good reason I'm not aware of?

I've had the same with a set of forks. Another took months but finally arrived. I hope yours make it.

I wouldn't mind so much if the parts were common and easy to find, retro parts are hard enough to find in decent condition for some bikes, so losing them once bought or sold is a harder pill to swallow, especially the hassle and hoops you have to jump through to claim the compensation paid for (thankfully).

I don’t post abroad any longer

Every single parcel is ‘lost’

I believe some of these are genuinely lost but most are people taking advantage of the rubbish ability to track since Brexit.

Not worth the hassle any longer whatever the item or incentive.

In my cases tracking never gets to final destination, hits customs and then nothing. You have to wait an age before you can report it as lost, then 14 days for them to investigate, then you can finally submit a claim, which could be rejected. Too much hassle and risk now it seems.

trust me some of those have found their way past customs. Just it doesn’t track now and people are using it to their advantage. Admittedly not everyone is dishonest but it’s simply not worth the risk now.

I know for a fact one item I posted abroad stopped at customs on the tracking. Buyer reported as not arrived. I refunded. And then a few weeks later quick snoop around social media showed said part on a bike they own. Even dropped them a message to see if it ever arrived and heard nothing back.

UK only now and always tracked. Always.

Well that´s unfortunate. No, let me rephrase, what an utter cr*p. Could really have done without this Brexit debacle. I´ve regularly bought from GB shops, dealt with people privately, all gone. And reading this maybe gone for good😖

Where are you sending/receiving from, the same country ?
Various European countries and also the USA.

I'd like to think it's just a glitch in the matrix and it will get better but only time will tell.

It's a huge shame as the RB community is a global one, we all fuel our passion with parts from around the world, wherever they are, if we need them or have them and can support someone's need/build we are here to help. I hope the postal service allows that to continue.

In the meantime, no more full suspension builds for me, unless I can get the boys I need in the UK. Thankfully I have a healthy stash to keep mine going for a while.
