Why do i always get damaged bikes off ebay, had enough

Old School Hero
In a terrible mood spent £100 on a orange x2 to find out frame was damaged, then brought a proflex animal for £250 it arrived today giving it a good clean and a 1 inch split in ali head tube.
Why why why i list all my items with every defect yet nobody else bothers and i lose out.
Contacted seller hoping for a partial refund, not sure what to expect but £100 seems fair as wheels are also shot.
Is it just me?

I had something similar from a seller on here. It was listed as having a few small things wrong with it but when it turned up it appears the rear triangle is completely out of shape. The for sale post immediately disappeared as well, which was nice.

I'll likely just throw the frame in the bin.

You win some, you lose some but it does seem that I lose more than I win.

Re:

No it's not just you, I've been stiffed twice.
First was advertised as excellent condition size large, but arrived with a 2cm long dent in the seat tube, 1 cm of play in the swing arm and a size medium. It even had the badge saying size medium on it so why advertise as a large??
Second had same description of size and condition but again turned out to be a medium and was totally worn out. Although there was no damage on the delivery box, the rear hanger was also bent so on first consolidation test ride the rear mech went through the wheel snapping three spokes?!? Total junk. In both cases previous owners denied all knowledge.
The wonderful hit and miss world of EBay.

They have just offered 50 what a joke, I list everything as untested and needing a service to cover all bases. Usually sells at a low price for this reason

Take screen shots BEFORE reporting to the seller ;-)

Go through paypal - if your honest and accurate they will side with you ;-)

Re:

If it's ebay then just open a dispute case....that usually focuses the sellers attention and if not then more often ebay will side with the buyer in the end. Send the seller a pic of the crack via ebay (not email) so you can prove what you are saying to support your case. You don't have to take what is offered by the seller.

Saying that, I have been on the receiving end of people claiming items were broken or 'worse than described' even though I had tried to cover all bases in my descriptions. i.e used, for parts/spares only, may have wear I have not described etc etc
Also ..and to my shame  ....having recently sold 2 lots of what turned out to be duff rims/wheels on here I have decided I need to be a lot more careful inspecting my items before I sell. Needless to say I gave refunds in all cases (gladly and quickly on here.....reluctantly on ebay).

The lady who sold the bike has just refunded £152.00, must be the best seller ever.
I misread message and she told me £50 to keep frame.
Dont get sellers like that very often, maybe ebay has got some good people

They are out there (and I would hope to count myself in that list) amongst the dross. ......faith restored :D

Did you leave appropriate feedback?

Don't bin anything, unless its really knackered. What frame is it?
