White vinegar - are plastics ok?

Smart Arses.

Basically vinegar is weak acetic acid, which has a cleaning effect, and also converts rust into a more stable compound.

Exposing certain plastics to acid will weaken them over the long term, but it's unlikely to be significant here - although a delicate compound like brake block rubber might harden slightly.

The acid will also strip off any protective film, so rinsing it off and then reapplying a protective coating where necessary would be advisable.

Don't they sell some vinegar in plastic bottles?
look at what plastic the bottles made from, I'd be surprised if it matches the plastic used in components.

bottles are normally PTEG or HDPE.

components are more likely to be ABS or TPU or Nylon all normally with reinforcement from glass fibres.

whilst all are considered plastic, they may not react in the same way and placing them all under 1 banner can lead to all sorts of issues.

fun aint it. :)
