Which way thread?

Hi

Im just about to start to put back together my Courier Comp and after junking the worn out bottom bracket and about to fit a new one cant remember which way the thing threads into the frame, I dont want to put too much effort into starting it off in case im threading it the wrong way and strip the shell.

Am i right to think that the drive side is anti-clockwise?

Old age is a terrible thing for making you forget!

drive side thread is lefty tighty (turn left to tighten)
non drive side thread is righty tighty (turn right to tighten)


always start off by screwing in by hand. you shouldn't do irreparable damage this way

Pedals tighten to the front.
Bottom Bracket tighten to the rear.

I always remember that the right pedal is right (the threading direction), then I know the BB is the other way around.

Theres a name for the way that the rotation of the spindle in the BB tightens it up rather than loosening it, but I can't remember it.

Unless you have an italian threaded BB (like my Pinarello MTB).
