which part has impressed you most over the years?

Curve OM cantis. Yeah discs have their advantages, but well set up rim brakes can deliver surprisingly good bite and feel. This set of cantis look great, weigh hardly anything and have done the job superbly for 16 years. Totally adequate on tarmac at all speeds. In XC riding, only on the very steepest singletracks do i find their limits and even then i'd be more worried about cables breaking than the actual performance. I suspect that many people who scoff about how cr*p rim brakes are have never used them, or just don't know how to set them up, or use nasty pads or worn/bent rims. The [braking]power-to-weight ratio of these components has always surprised me.

+ another for Mavic headsets, bought it in 92 , took it apart to check it last year and still has clean "black gold" (yes I still have a pot of this stuff) grease in it and runs smooth as silk.
Might be forsale soon if I take the bike apart (cracked frame) and it's a 1/1/4.

why has no one mentioned the beloved crud catcher? Simple...British...endorsed by Mint.

I was also a fan of the USE suspension seatpost...although useless half the time.

Good point - and that reminds me: loved my gorilla brake booster as well - really firmed up my Mag 21's BITD and made the brakes work properly. Very simple, well made and did a good job.
