Which Chain Lube?

Tried many a lube over the years :facepalm: but I don't get on with Wax type stuff, I get that its great at not attracting dirt/dust/sand but for me it's always Wet lubes (applied correctly - wipe off the excess on the external plates) that are the best and just clean them when they get mucky. I can honestly say that my XTR M950
lightly used drivetrain with a fresh chain and wet lube is THE slickest shifting gears I've ever used.
 
GT85, works great as long as you use it regular.

Chain lubes seem to collect too much dirt and just end up having to clean the chains more to stop them wearing.

I use Finish Line Dry or Epic Ride if the conditions aren't too nasty.. I did experiment with Wax Lube a few years back but it was a bit of a nightmare, as it kept throwing itself onto the frame/wheels and then drying as hardened white cack. It might have been my lubing technique letting me down though (ahem).

For the cargo bike (which also gets thrashed along a muddy canal path all winter) I discovered Decathlon do a half decent all weather lube which is cheap as chips! Very useful if you have two and a half chains to oil :LOL:

Cooking oil, must be good if all the Chinese students in York are using it on their bikes!, Must also work good on squeeky disc brakes :shock:

I've been using Tri-flow for donkey years. I think I used Sim's Tenacious Oil in the early days, but I don't see it sold much. I tried white lightning dry lube and hated it - particularly in the winter. I'm a dyed in the wool wet lube man.
