Which cassette is better, pg1070 or 105?

I've managed to end up with two cassettes and can only use one at a time. Which out of the two offerings from sram and shimano would be considered the better of the two?

I know technically the 105 is a road cassette, but this is for a commuter bike (airnimal joey) that I'm converting to 10 speed xtr and want to run the better of the two as I couldn't stretch to a 10 speed xtr cassette (plus the ratios for MTB aren't really needed on the streets of london).

What's the verdict?

Thanks

I'd be inclined to try them both and see which one suited my riding style ( like I have a riding style  )

Re:

My measure of which is better would be weight, assuming same number of sprockets and teeth.

Same ratios so perhaps weight is a good measure. In terms of riding style, it's for a commuter ride so the only style I'll be employing will be safety.

Personally I'd put the cheapest cassette onto a commuter. It will have a brutish life in salt and muck, why use an expensive one? Does your commute really need a 30g saving?

Probably not, but neither does it need xtr gears/shifters, hope hubs, headset and rotors, a carbon saddle, formula brakes, a top end ish fsa chainset and bars, or a custom pace rc31 made for 24 inch wheels.

I'm generally a Shimano fan with no time for that SRAM nonsense! But I've been running a 1050 cassette on my main MTB for a couple of years now. I think it feels more solid than XT in terms of shift and power delivery and it's been very hard wearing too. I'd give the sram a go...you might like it!
