Which bike rides the best?

As the title suggests, what is the nicest riding bike you've ridden? Doesn't have to be the "best", just curious ;)

Was it steel/aluminium/titanium? What did you like about it?

I quite like my Marin Bear Valley SE. Personally I think a nice lightweight steel frame has a good feel to it. Need to buy/build a few more to get a more concrete opinion though ;)

I have been fortunate enough to try a few materials (except carbon - that be witchcraft!) and for me its more about the design of the frame first then the material.

By far the smoothest HT I have ever ridden is my 2010 Cotic Soul - far comfier than my Ti Kona HT was but I guess that is more so down to the design.

A Ti frame can be built burly and have a ride characteristic similar to alloy and a 853 framed HT can be built in a way that it rides like a noodley ti frame.

Horses for courses etc.

Others will say otherwise as its all down to personal preference.

My friend Suzie's Cannondale M600 springs to mind. It could be that I always wanted one as a kid, but when I finally got to ride her ~'90 model it was so nice... wish I'd had the chance to use it for longer but it was just a quick bez around the same route I take every bike on to test handling... the M600 set the benchmark for cornering fun!

Hate to say it but I don't think the actual bike matters much, it's more about how you're feeling and where you are etc than what bike it is.

I haven't much experience of different bikes to be honest, but my fave' has to be my '97 Breezer Lightning, it's just a lovely smooth and balanced ride.

Rocky Mountain Altitude/ P2 forks, pure steel lovelyness.

Santa Cruz Superlight, Sub 20lb dream build and rode like sexual chocolate!

Ritchey Softail/ sofride stem, all day riding and more smiles than the cheshire cat.
