Where to look for cracks on a GT LTS 2000 frame?

I’m not sure if this is in the right section if the 2000 dictates the year?

Anyway, I’m viewing the below bike tomorrow and I’d like to understand what problems I should be looking for?

If the frame isn’t cracked, could it possibly become cracked if regularly used… I guess that may be difficult to answer.

I’m not sleight by any means!

Is an RTS-2 higher in the range than this bike as I bought one of those last week which may have to unfortunately go straight back out the door if I prefer the LTS as space is limited!

I also need an idea of what to offer if I’m happy with the bike?

The RTS-2 is older and has less travel. I prefer the RTS myself, but I'm a fan, I'm sure others will chip in with their preference.

Both bikes have fairly proprietary shocks with Fe replacement options due to frame design. Not as easy to find places that service the lts shock, I guess same is true for the noleen on the RTS but they are out there.

Crack wise, check the rear stay pivots (,this is true for both bikes), BB pivot, and any welds. Check head tube too.

That lts has desirable AC cranks and looks a decent spec, the RTS-2 would be LX equipped usually which is decent, but the xt on the lts better.

As you'll have both, ride them and see which you prefer for the riding you'll be doing.
