Hobart? Never been there, but didn't you guys have a big cyclone or hurricane a number of years ago?

No :?

Must be thinking of another city
Have been meaning to get over to Hobart though.

I have spent months near the equator in various places, and a couple of weeks of 40 odd degrees heat just kills it for me, especially with high humidity, unless you are planning to lay on a beach and drink cocktails.

Seems there is nowhere without compromise.

Personally I love the temperate climates, especially as an outdoors orientated person. You can always add layers for warmth, you cannot peel off your skin to cool down.

Life, for me, would not be the same without the full fat seasonal changes.

Every time there is a flood I ask myself why they rebuild in that area, but considering the advanced state of knowledge on earthquake zones and such I really cannot see me setting up home in an affected area.

Regardless of how good the weather is!

Yes I agree... I like it cool. Hobart is pretty cold, yesterday it was 6C, was doing a phone interview for a job in Brisbane, it was 26. If I get it, I'll be melting for years to come I think.

Interesting true story.

Fellow[a known pacifist] was looking to move to the safest place on earth where he thought there was little chance of war breaking out.
After weeks of searching he settled upon a small group of Islands just off the Argentinian coast called the Falklands and promptly moved there.

3 days after his arrival..........

I was reeading the other day about a woman who was in the September quake here in Christchurch, she moved to Queensland and got caught up in the floods over there, ended up back in Christchurch for the Feb quake, moved to Auckland and got caught up in the Tornado! We don't want here back here!
