I was just voicing my thoughts on a fairly dull thread.

Accepting the wink - that's one of the most pointless things to comment. If it's so dull, why read it - surely nobody makes you? And I'm sure the whole forum will just eat up some incredibly interesting thread you start, in contrast.

but I was making an open comment on a multiple page thread that seems for all intent and purposes to be a series of meaningless numbers.
Its fairly obvious that these numbers dont actually relate to anything substantial, and im surprised no-one else has picked up on it.

Commenting on the validity of the test is one thing, but I just don't get on commenting on (effectively) the validity of discussing it.

It just seemed strange to me. Hence my 'protest'.

I cant help it if I read something and find it dull, surely you have to read something to find out whether it is interesting or not? And as any good reviewer would do, I left a review. Be it positive or negative.



And yes, I will start a thread that people will find interesting. Probably.

I just find the whole "this subject is dull" type comments the most pointless ever, that's all.

I truly don't get it - it's one thing to question the validity - but why bother commenting that you feel it's dull - why not move on to something less dull?

I'm sure most people here could find countless threads they personally find dull, yet don't post to such threads to say so. I'm guessing becuase of the futility of it. I mean was it important to you that others taking part in the thread knew that you found the subject dull, or something? I'm just not getting it, that's all...

I didnt find it a futile exercise, I found the thread so long, and so pointless that I felt I needed to express that.

Perhaps 'dull' was a poor choice of words, granted. 'purposeless' perhaps?

If reading line after line of numbers (which dont mean anything) floats your boat then good for you.

And I find it mildly curious, as opposed to compelling - just so as you know.

When other list pics of their bikes, some people say 'I dont like it, sorry'.

And typically, that's the point of posting a picture - to gauge opinions on the bike.

My interpretation of this thread wasn't to question whether the subject was worthy of debate - but on the topic of discussion. Like I said, we could all go through all the off-topic threads that don't interest us and post that in our opinions the subject is dull - but isn't that utterly pointless and redundant?

To what end?

Was the point of discussion as to whether other people think the thread or length of thread worthy of debate? If you found it so pointless, why not move on to something you find worthwhile, leaving others unburdened by the voice of dissent.

Whilst I find responding to you mildly interesting, I do find your demeanour always antagonistic, and although occasionally mild occasionally blatant but usually cleverly veiled, im finding your insults rather tedious. (probably more tedious than you and the other enlightened ones clearly find me in general).

I've lost interest in deconstructing another bunch of cynicisms. You dont like what I said, lets leave it at that.

You say this, whilst presumably feeling quite free to dismissively condemn a thread as dull. If I need to get over myself - which may well be true - et tu, Brute?

Was anything I said to you ad hominem? Or did I merely question the point of labelling a thread (that appears to have a fair degree of participation, outside of our "debate") dull?

My point remains - how many others, stalk the off-topic forum and comment that threads they aren't interested in, are dull? And does it really make sense?
