A quick note for site admin
This site is ‘not secure’ - any chance of knowing when this will be sorted out ? As the amount of times I’ve sent personal details through the PM system is frightening!
Are our PM’s safe?

Addendum

To be honest - I like the site as it is - I wouldn’t be bothered normally if people hadn’t been wary of the PM system - I understand that all the internet is a mass of spyware anyway - as long as the hosting and servers are secure and the underlying software is too - I’d rather not be clicking cookies and such privacy boxes which to all intent and purposes are there to data harvest anyway

I get it on iOS and on Firefox and Safari on Mac OS X
I guess it’s down to investment and /or money perhaps?

Free ssl certs from let's encrypt. Not a financial issue really.
Interesting to see what the site admins say. This is a very popular website as any internet search engine reveals this to be amongst the top of not the top hit with anything retro MTB and road bike related matters

Re:

Google was at one point going to deprioritise unsecure and non-mobile friendly sites in search results so aside from not being great that things aren't secure, it will impact search result placing in the long run.

As people have noted, this is (or should be) a very simple thing to do. In the meantime, don't use the same login password for any other website, which you should be doing anyway, and don't send sensitive info (credit card, personal info, etc) because it is all "in the clear". Someone could intercept and read it.

Even with those precautions, until the site goes https, it means there is the possibility of someone hijacking your account, deleting it, impersonating you etc. :(

As already mentioned above, to get sites to switch google started putting site not secure messages up and also dropping the sites search ratings but for a site like this its not really as important.

Another thing to note, anything sent can be intercepted, regardless of means, that includes any site, emails and phones etc

This is interesting - and you’re quite right
Using DuckDuckGo private browser on my iPhone displays no such NOT Secure - as safari does.
DuckDuckGo search engine results are also pretty good - I don’t and haven’t used google search in many years.

But if it’s a simple matter for the certificate then why not ?
