No you wouldn't be able to do it, because it wouldn't be allowed!!!! I work on roofs and the amount of health and safety bobbins you have to go through is unreal (but unfortunately necessary!)

P.s. Apparently a lot of the workers on those old scyscrapers were native americans because they were braver and treated working at height as an act of manliness....

I was standing near the top of the empire state building a couple weeks back.

Amazing to think in 1929 in a big old recession building something that still looks massive now...
