When did it start going rubbish?

too much choice is always a bad thing. Every time I optimistically walk into a bike shop I turn around and walk out within seconds.

Did it go wholesale bad??

Perhaps there are more bso's to choose from since 19xx but how does that compare, percentage-wise, to the amount of bikes sold bitd to then?

These threads may be old to some of you but others (me) missed them before. Feel free to ignore them if it seems like Groundhog day

I much prefer the more traditional looking bikes.
However when full suspension became almost a prerequisite, that's when I started to loose interest in what was the newest and latest.
There's no doubt that components have improved as have frames and certainly suspension!
I think there are now so many niches, some of which don't need to be filled?
However it's not all lost, there are still some manufacturers offering us new older style bikes!

I had the most fun I've had in a long while at Grizedale on my newish Kona this week.

And that's chunky just like me :D
