Depends on the freehub. You need to check if there is a spacer ring on the hub next to the largest cog, if so then yes, if not then no.

Very unlikely. 8 and 9 speed are interchangeable usually with a spacer to make up the difference. Not true with actual 7-speed hubs from what I recall, as the freehub part that the cassette attaches to is different.

Exage is of early 90s vintage and should take 7-speed cassettes only I believe.
