Hi all, I own a Klein Pulse Comp (had it from new) and I've noticed at the last wheelbearing strip/rebuild that there's some pitting on the cups. As it's the original back wheel I think it's done fairly well (front's been changed for a cheapy disc wheel), so I've decided to have a stab at wheelbuilding.
Problems are:
~ I'm on a budget.
~ The OLD for the bike is 130mm
~ I want to build a set of black wheels
~ I'd like hubs that don't need a box of specialist pullers to service (but open to persuasion about this).
I've found 3 pairs of rims..
EXAL LX17 32H
EXAL SP19 32H
Mach1 Nitro's 32H
all of which fit my low-budget budget, but I'm struggling with hubs that are black and 32H. Fronts aren't too much of an issue I can find sram x7, Novatec D521 and (my preferred hub) Shimano M475, but the only rear I can find is a Novatec F422GCC (road version).
I'll be using these for commuter-type work, but I want something I can also stick some knobblies on and get dirty if the urge takes me.
So my questions are:
~ Which rim?
~ Which front hub?
~ Does anyone know of any Shimano rear hubs that are black and 130mm?
Any pointers, advice or recommendations gratefully received.
Cheers.
