Whats your worst EBAY experience?

some scumbag in the states hacked into my ebay account and started selling canon cameras new price $500 dollars bin price $250 dollars.
payment was via paypal to a similar email address to mine so these things were being snapped up they sold 6 in total.
had some american calling at 2 in the morning asking where his camera was.
had the police involved and to top things off ebay wanted payment for selling the bloody things of which my account is frozen until i pay up.
never will i buy from ebay again

kirbdug

I bought a 'Zaskar' frame for £75, which when it eventually arrived (badly packed) wasn't a Zaskar, but from lower down the range (similar looking but badged as Zaskar), not only that but also the BB threads had been hacked at by a screw driver or similar obviously trying to get a stuck BB out  Raised dispute, as the guy wouldn't respond, ebay eventually found in my favour, had to return the item though to get my money back. Needless to say I didn't spend much time on the packing  Seller couldn't leave me negative feedback so left barbed comments with positive feedback  You can guess what sort of feedback I left him.

Plenty of crooks on here never mind ebay

Really?

There have certainly been a couple of guys who have been dodgy on here and are now banned, but a tiny proportion compared to the number of people who are completely solid - if that wasn't the case 'For sale' would simply cease to function because there would be no trust.

If there is someone who you have an issue with that we don't know about then please let one of the moderators know. Otherwise vague references to 'plenty of crooks' isn't really here or there.

agreed plenty of good people too without a doubt.

I paid loads for a set of green NOS odi attack grips... cant remember how much but it was stupid like £30-£40 !!! FOR A SET OF GRIPS !!!
anyway they were pictured in the original packaging tube.... when they turned up they had been removed from the original packaging and squashed in to a little envelope... for that money i wanted the BLOODY ORIGINAL PACKAGING !!!!

anyway the seller was from germany and if i can remember his name i will "out" him here as im still pissed about it now and it was about 2 years ago !!

okay not that bad... but its all ive got :D

I won a set of speakers, then arranged a courier to pick them up for me.
When they got to me they were completely shot, tweeters pushed in and drivers blown.
As I'd given the courier the money to pay on pick up I couldn't go through Paypal.
Ended up taking the seller to small claims to get my money back.

However I've had some superb deals, I picked up a voltage converter the other day from A German seller for the 99p start price. It arrived in three days and came with a free pack of Haribo and a Ritter Sports bar. :D

Had the same thing happen as kirbdug, except they had listed 100's of fake designer handbags!

Won an auction for a volvo s40 t4, travelled from Glasgow to Yorkshire to pick it up, turned out it had a huge dent in the roof, funny noises and 160k on it instead of 106k. Plus the seller had sloped off to work and left his wife to deal with the fall out!

Plus the usual stuff getting lost and stolen by the post office!

I expect that this will come back to bite me on the ass, but I've never really had a bad experience with eBay. Mostly I've just received the items in an acceptable time and in the condition as described. Occasionally much better than expected.
I've never had anything "stolen" by the Post Office and on the one occasion that something has arrived damaged that was down to poor packaging and not the fault of the postal service. It got sorted though.

I once sold a camera to a guy in Italy - he paid using Paypal, but a month later the camera still hadn't turned up. He couldn't do any tracking from his end and so I contacted Isle of Man Post and they raised this as a "Missing Item" with the Italian Postal Service. The camera was found in a sorting office in Milan and delivered to its rightful owner who, because I'd kept him up to date with what was happening, was fine with it all.

Mind you, Isle of Man Post are great when it comes to tracing lost/delayed items - they have more clout than an individual would have and yet you can pick up the phone and speak to the guy responsble for tracing your parcel. I think that they're superb.
